About Us

Jane Sorensen has an independent private practice working with individuals and groups in wellness, human potential development, social change, small business and professionally supervised practice development She worked with traditional Occupational Therapy cases for over 30 years in home care , geriatrics, schools, psychiatry-in and out patient, physical disabilities, hands and .early intervention. She presented hundreds of workshops and seminars, nationally and internationally.  

She has authored over 300 articles as columnist for Advance for Occupational Therapy Practitioners. She has published three books, one on the theory and practice of consciousness-raising as a methodology of social change, another on medicinal plants and trees and a third on early childhood intervention.  

She designed and taught courses at the New School of Social Research, the American Management Association and the graduate schools at New York University and the University of Indianapolis. She was the first remote education developer for Advance for Occupational Therapy. 

She earned her BS in Occupational Therapy from Tufts University/ Boston School of Occupational Therapy, her PHD in Human Relations at Northern Indiana University, her Naturopathic Degree from Clayton College of Natural Health, and her Certification in Group Psychotherapy at Group Relations On-going Workshops in New York City.

She was the Chair of the Steering Committee, National Women’s Political Caucus; Legislative Chair of Metropolitan District and NY State OT Association simultaneously; on the Advisory Committee, NY Region, United States Small Business Administration; Chair, Ad Hoc Special Projects Committee, UN Decade for Women. and appears in Feminists Who Changed America, 1963-1975. 

For over 20 years she has been a Tree Farmer in upstate New York. She certified as Master Forest Owner at Cornell University. She has written extensively on medicinal plants and trees, published in the New York Forest Owners and The American Tree Farm magazines.

Her work has been recognized in international and national biographies including, Dictionary of International Biography, Who’s Who in: the World of Women, America, the East, Business and Finance. .
